Ok, its kinda strange. 52 jobs in 52 weeks. Who does that sort of thing and why?!

week 6: Stuntman

week 4: Beef Farmer

week 10: Blacksmith

week 5: Journalist

It all started with a box. This box happened to be full of metal brackets when it fell and hit me on the head while I was working at my desk and took me out of action for quite a while. I had to go and see doctors, go in big machines and head back to Cornwall to get better. While recovering from this injury I had the time to truly question whether I wanted to go back to managing a shop, or if that wasn’t really for me. Maybe it was time to try something else.

I expanded the idea to cram in as much experience of different jobs as possible in one year. So now I find myself attempting to work 52 jobs and 52 weeks. I decided to give all of my wages to charity so that while I get to have fun trying these things out, it’s also helping other people at the same time.

Any wages I get paid all go to The Prince’s Trust who help disadvantaged young people into work, education or training. The bigger this thing gets, the more I’ll raise and the more people it’ll help, so I’m going for it and hoping you might want to follow along.

I’ve spent time as a stunt man, beef farmer, blacksmith, pizza delivery boy, university lecturer, festival organiser and more. Soon I'll get to experience life through the eyes of a midwife, air steward, surfing coach, and safari park keeper among other things.

I’ve spent weeks in places such as the Sunday Times, Monster.co.uk and River Cottage, with upcoming jobs at the BBC, Empire Magazine, The Eden Project, Boardmasters Festival, Mind Candy and other places I’m not yet allowed to say.

So far the story has been on BBC and ITV news, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, Metro, Sky News, The Sun, The Mirror, The Daily Star and on BBC Radio 5, BBC London, BBC Cornwall, BBC Devon, BBC Three Counties, BBC Tees and lots of other regional publications and radio stations. Other online coverage includes Yahoo, MSN, The Huffington Post, Orange, and many other sites. It’s also seems to be quite big in Germany. I’m still trying to work out exactly why.

The year continues to surprise me and I’m doing things I never thought I’d get the chance to. Helping feed huge sharks is not a normal Friday for me and to keep experiences like that to myself isn’t on. So here’s the website where I’ll share videos, pictures, and words all about that kind of thing as I continue. I hope you enjoy the rest of this odd journey.

lots of good stuff here!
